After a very uneventful night in Beaver, Utah, we headed south along a scenic highway to Bryce Canyon. In order to get there, you have to go through Red Canyon. It looks like it was the inspiration for the Wile E. Coyote vs. Roadrunner cartoons. It is also the likely hideout of Butch Cassidy. A few years ago we drove back to that spot. Anyway, Bryce was gorgeous. The high altitude definitely affects your lung capacity. We were all huffing and puffing as we hiked to various points.
After Bryce, we went back through Red Canyon and further south to Zion. I really wanted to take the kids to Weeping Rock, but now you have to go on the shuttle to that point. We were just too tired to do that. We got to see all the normal views of Checkerboard Mesa, the tunnel and the numerous hairpin turns. At the bottom of the canyon, I found a bead shop and got some natural stone pieces to use with my new hobby.
We rolled into St. George about 4 pm. We found a steakhouse that did not restrict its' drink options like most of this state! The boys spied the Coldstone's that we found last year.
After another hotel continental breakfast, we will start our trek home!
